It’s your birthday.

Serious lack of updates. Been working on the new site, which is an extremely slow process when you don’t have the internet outside of the office. However, this has been remedied by my finally getting around to setting up tethering on my phone, so I’m slightly more connected.

Also, I’ve been working quite solidly on this: Dr. Noki for 123.

New site up soon.

TG.

Busy.

Shot Callum Read & The Books promos last week. Actually, they weren’t really promos, we just wanted to make each other giggle. I think we succeeded with this stupid shot:

Books.

Inspired by Craig David’s seminal debut:

In other news, excited to get the new website up. Nearly nearly nearly done.

TG.

The story of Frederic Henry and Catherine Barkley.

The website is in the process on being overhauled, so if it goes funny then that is why. I’m excited to announce a few things over the coming weeks & months, starting with the inception of Anything Anywhere Co. Even if it never leaves the bedrooms of whoever’s involved, it’s still electric.

TG.

Come and sit down and I’ll tell you.

Unfortunately, I think I got unlucky with the Provia 100f I took to Barcelona, and whilst a good workman should never blame his tools, I shot thirty-six perfectly exposed frames on Neopan 400, which is obviously faster, but didn’t blow out at all. Bit of a bummer, but I’m delighted with the outcome of the Neopan (which I hadn’t used before). It’s already one of my favourite films; beautifully grainy and lovely greys. My possible favourite shot from Barcelona is below: it was dusk, and the street was partially bathed in golden light, making it hazy and tired. I love it more in black and white.

I have a summery feeling.

TG.

Hurt.

A few from Barcelona, but really these could be anywhere couldn’t they? Shot on Provia (which I don’t like). But I do like these shots.

TG.

Echoes.

I recently visited the Holocaust Exhibition at the Imperial War Museum. It, of course, is incredibly moving and very tangible. So much so that I left at about the halfway mark, but will eventually go back to finish it off. Certainly worth seeing (& it’s free).

TG.

Mindfield.

Ok, so the gallery is slowly being updated. Got a few rolls in the lab this week so… more as they come. Phew.

TG.

We Felt it.

I have been seriously lacking in posts and updates over here. There are about a million pictures I want to upload but just haven’t got around to it. Got back from Barcelona yesterday, had an incredible time that was slightly marred by the worst cold of all time.

Skating with Callum Read, shot on Portra 800:

More updates this week. That’s a promise to myself.

TG.

Man In Black.

Shot a beautiful wedding this weekend; gallery will be updated in due course. I love love!

Ab Aeterno.

Well, hello. It seems that the turn of the month marks my foreseeable future into a chaotic whirlwind maelstrom of rushing around. But that’s fun and encourages healthy sleeping patterns.

My favourite film at the moment is Fuji Astia, which I will most definitely be using for several weddings I have lined up. Slide film at a wedding could be a little risky, but with a dedicated camera and used carefully, it’ll be worth it.

My other favourite film is 500 Days Of Summer, which I seem to be able to watch on repeat and never tire of. Which leads us neatly on to She & Him, a band I love at the moment, and their video for In The Sun is so feel-good. I’ve watched it about ten times in the past few days.

Couple of shots below, messing around with flashes and my flat.

I hope you’re all really full from Easter eggs.

TG

The Constant.

I had some bits and bobs to post, pictures that is, but the lab messed up my scans. Woops! Hopefully they’ll be with me soon.

Lost season six is so darn good.

Kaleidoscope.

A friend of mine, Adrian, puts on killer club nights most months. His regulars are What Ever Happened To P-Rock? and Eclectic Like Whoopi. They’re always a hoot, and I ended up photographing the bands at last weekend’s P-Rock. A couple of them are below; one I quite like and the other, well, you can make up your own mind about that.

In other news, I got very excited about the Oscars on Sunday, but found them to be fairly predictable.

TG.

Oceanic 815.

Had a little bit of downtime here at TRAG.com, something to do with renewing hosts and then hosts and servers not getting along, but everyone’s OK now.

A friend of mine gave me some Ilford B&W film that had been kicking about his parents house for I do not know how long, so I stuck it in the FG-20 and hoped for the best. I really like the result, but I prefer HP to FP (not talking about HP sauce there, haw haw!). Anyway, couple of shots below.

TG.

Regeneration.

A shot of my Grandfather, because he’s just such a bloody good looking bloke.

10,000 Leagues.

I’m reading On The Road at the moment, it would probably be my book recommendation of the week. I’m also listening to Bright Eyes’ “Digital Ash In A Digital Urn”. Really my favourite Bright Eyes record.

I’m not doing these two things simultaneously, in fact I am loathe to read with any sort of disturbance; is that a pact of pretension? Probably.

Looking forward to warm weather!

04/02/1987

Hi. February is so cold, isn’t it? I’m scared to leave the house in case I immediately freeze, à la The Day After Tomorrow.

Could say everywhere.

Recent shots that may not actually be recent:

Everything froze all around us.

Callum Read shots, born out of nothing on the coldest day of all time.

Between one and one thirty. Maybe two.

The first update of 2010, slightly belated but better late than never. There are a few exciting things coming up in the TRAG camp this year, all of which I’m itching to get underway. First though (and maybe most importantly), I have to keep my balance on all this ice and snow; I’m prone to toppling like a dog standing in a moving car.

Well, I hope you all had a lovely Christmas, and have an extremely prosperous New Year. I’ll leave you with a couple of shots, taken out of my window at two AM.

Food.

I can’t post what I’ve been up to recently, because my mum might see it and that’d ruin her Christmas surprise.

I do hope that everyone is enjoying the snow though. I’d like to say that I am, but my main snow friend has dislocated his knee, so it’s not THAT great. C’est la vie. Nearly Christmas, I’m going to eat so much.

Bye!!

TG

Merry Christmas!

Hi guys. Don’t be fooled by the moody looking wreath up there; I definitely have that festive feeling.

Lymington.

Taken in Spring ’09, driving around Hampshire.

Season’s greetings fellows!

LCF – Mark Fast.

Mark Fast: Spring/Summer ’10 Lookbook.

Stop motion video that my girlfriend and I made this week. We decided to animate a designer’s collection of her choice, instead of handing in the same old lookbook. Quite happy with the outcome. TG.

Ben Delaney.

Found this portrait, taken by Ben Delaney, of Washington. Think it was shot on a Mamiya c330. I had intentions of picking up a c330, and this has completely cemented those intentions.

Absolutely love this photograph. TG.

Step One.

Hi there dudes. Pictured below is a cool project I’ve been working on the past couple of days, from my point of view. I can’t wait to finish it. Not least because that tripod is literally the worst thing I have ever used.

A couple of shots, one recent and one not so recent.

Canterbury at The Garage.

Gardening during the summer – too nice NOT to!

TG.

New portraits added to the gallery, of the beautiful Rachel Wilkinson. Shot in digital with one speedlight and the autumn sun. Seeya! TG

Location is a theme that has pervaded my consciousness since before I picked up a camera. Nothing on my street stops moving, except maybe contrivance.

I’m very excited to start shooting on medium format! TG

Canterbury.

Just finished shooting Canterbury at Brixton Academy, supporting Billy Talent. I planned on shooting BT too, but I was so hungry that I literally had to give it a miss, for the sake of my health. However, Canterbury were awesome, and looked like they’d been playing stages that big for years. A few photos can be found in the gallery, as well as a couple of Callum Read, for good measure. Well done guys!

Head to http://www.canterburythankyou.com to download their debut album for free!

[For more pics of Canterbury at Brixton, drop me a message:).]

Busy busy. Silly lack of updates… two months’ worth? Jeez. In that time, however, I have been to Rome; moved house; co-organised Callum Read’s CD launch party (which was a blast) and enrolled at university (!). Not to mention dabbling in stop-motion. A few photos to document:

Phew! All photos from Italy were taken with a Nikon FG-20 35mm, and a Zenit-E Moshva 80 35mm. Oh, and a trusty disposable. We love disposables here at TRAG Towers (just kidding; I wish I lived/worked in a tower).

All of the Callum Read/live photos were shot digital, with one flash. The room was tiny, though not limitless.

There you have it. More updates, as they come. TG

I’ve been ludicrously busy recently. Finalising new houses and attempting to get my current estate agents on the phone… no mean feat. I played some guitar on Callum Read’s new EP, which (if I say so myself), is sounding magnificent. We’re putting on a release party which will be great fun.

In closing, my film recommendation of the week is Inglourious Basterds. Seen it twice now, it gets better. It’s amazing!

Welcome!

Hello. Welcome to my freshly laundered and ironed website/portfolio. I’ll be adding to the Gallery in due course, and posting what ever I might be up to in here, which will double as a news section… and for somewhere that doesn’t strictly concern wedding photography. With that in mind, here are a couple of shots from the past few weeks:

Callum Read

Above is a chap called Callum Read. He’s a “singer/songwriter” and also happens to be my house mate. Every so often we churn out some promo pics, to keep his many adoring fans at bay. Check him out over at http://myspace.com/callumreadofficial, I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised.

A couple of weeks ago, my “better half” and I sojourned to Padstow, in Cornwall. As well as being blessed by mild/decent(!) weather, we also did a bit of exploring. I’d recommend Padstow to anyone who might like the sea, 19th century smuggling, the Famous Five, ice cream, seagulls; even the throngs of tourists don’t take away from it. This picture might go some way to sum it up (shot on 35mm; my (preferred) weapon of choice):

Shell Cottage

So, here ends my brief introduction. Although the site isn’t big, please take a look around, give me feedback, report bugs, enjoy it.

Thanks!

Tom
